It
will be nice to get on the road again so we can relax, but we can't
miss catching up with all our friends here so we'll just have to
persevere.
Our
big friendly RV group the Escapees Shanty Shakers were having a rally
at the Pechanga Casino. Who could say no!!
|
The Miata and the Monaco are ready for the Rally |
Not
only was it a regular rally but it was also their 30th
Anniversary. Move over I see a party coming!!
|
Beautifully maintained Pechanga Resort |
Pechanga
has a really nice RV Park and even better they take Passport America
so we got camping for $27 a night instead of $60.
|
The newest and longest served members cut the birthday cake. |
The
drive up I15 was enough to remind us that we don't like Interstates
even mid morning when the traffic was light! Pechanga was only 60
miles from El Cajon so we were there in little more than an hour. As
soon as we were set up our old friends Marty and Peggy, Bruce and
Sue, Wayne and Lynne were passing by nd saying “Hi” “Happy hour
is at 4.30”. And the party commenced in earnest.
|
What it's all about FOOD! (and good company of course) |
We
had the use of a nice shelter with kitchen, bathrooms etc and that's
where we were every day . Happy hour on Monday was followed by Pot
Luck on Tuesday and the big event. Catered lunch/dinner for the 30th
anniversary.
|
Happy campers. |
Wrapped
up in that lot was the annual fundraising for the CARE facility in
Livingston TX. CARE is a place that RV'ers an go in their RV's if
they have had surgery or illness. The facility isn't a nursing home
or assisted living but will provide a place where you can recover.
They will provide some meals, do laundry, clean once a week while you
recover. There are areas to gather for social evenings and limited
care. A great place and one of our favorite charitable organizations.

Don and John the Auctioneers. |
|
Lots of goodies for Bruce and Sue. |
I was recruited to take the "Official" pictures and ended up sorting thru 120 pictures!! Hope I didn't miss anyone.
|
More goodies and the Chapter flag. |
Everyone
attending had provided gifts to be auctioned off and the bidding was
fierce, All told we raised $2300 dollars!
I
can't believe how fast the event flew by and we had to tear ourselves
away to return to the El Cajon Elks Lodge where Don Smith who we met
here 3 weeks ago was waiting to welcome us back!!
Great write up Brian ! It was a great event. Happy travels to you !
ReplyDeleteThanks Lynn, we are at the El Cajon Elks until Monday.
